Welcome! I’m Candace Abbie, the founder and illustrator behind ABBIE Studio.

My dream was always to be an illustrator. I’ve been fascinated by drawing for as long as I can remember. Born in the U.S. and raised primarily in Taiwan, I grew up surrounded by an eclectic mix of cultural influences that shaped the way I see art, design, and storytelling.

As a young girl, I fell in love with comic books with their expressive characters and ability to communicate emotion through illustration. Those stories taught me the power of imagination and visual storytelling—something that continues to be at the heart of my work today.

Early Influences

My aesthetic was also influenced by the world of fashion and design I grew up around. My mother loved brands such as Wedgwood and was surrounded by their legendary patterns, refined details, and timeless elegance. She also loved to dress in very well made, clean cut tailor, bold yet classy.

She introduced me to couture as another form of artistic expression and how quality matters. These early influences sparked my love of patterns, intricate embellishments, and beautifully detailed design—elements that continue to inspire my illustration style today.

Later Career

I eventually returned to the U.S. for my education and career, spending many years as a sales person and later turned graphic designer in the corporate world and living and working in San Francisco, Chicago, Stamford, and now Dallas. The experience taught me how imagery can be an integral part of marketing, with the goal of creating a more impactful, meaningful, and hopefully iconic visual identity.

Today, I’ve turned my attention to illustration (both hand drawn and digital) and to the kind of work I’ve always wanted to cultivate. I love decorative, detailed, and wonderfully ornate style combining rich, earthy color palettes with stylized botanical, intricate pattern, fantastical animals, and rare, exotic, and mythical characters. Sirens, dragons, griffins, krakens, and other curious creatures inhabit imaginative worlds that draw from folk art, storytelling, nature, and the many design influences I’ve collected throughout my life.

Vision

I’m inspired by brands that use illustration to create an unmistakable identity. I love the opulent graphics of brands where artwork becomes an integral part of the product experience. A beautifully illustrated box, bottle, or label can become something a customer connects with—not merely packaging anymore, but almost a product in itself.

This is what I hope to bring to my brand partnerships to anything from package design, illustrated identities, labels, surface patterns, textiles, merchandise, and campaign artwork across fashion, beauty and fragrance, food and beverage, stationery, and more. I love the collaborative process of taking a brand’s ideas, objectives, and personality and translating them into a cohesive aesthetic that feels distinctive, memorable, and entirely its own.
